RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Detainee Akram
Rikhawi, who has been on hunger strike in Israeli jails for more than
three months, is in a very critical health condition, the ministry of
prisoners said on Wednesday.
The ministry said in a statement that
Rikhawi, 48, could no longer move and has been transferred to Ramle
prison clinic after he suffered a stroke.
It noted that Rikhawi, who has been in
Israeli detention since 2004, was adamant on his hunger strike that
entered its 93rd day, the longest by a detainee in human history.
The ministry pointed out that the Israeli
military court would discuss in a hearing this week the release of Samer
Al-Barq, also on hunger strike for 77 days, on condition that he would
be deported to Jordan, where his family lives.
