When I saw you - film
http://whenisawyou.com/
Jordan, 1967. The world is alive with change: brimming with reawakened energy, new styles, music and an infectious sense of hope. In Jordan, a different kind of change is underway as tens of thousands of refugees pour across the border from Palestine. Having been separated from his father in the chaos of war, Tarek, 11, and his mother Ghaydaa, are amongst this latest wave of refugees. Placed in “temporary” refugee camps made up of tents and prefab houses until they would be able to return, they wait, like the generation before them who arrived in 1948. With difficulties adjusting to life in Harir camp and a longing to be reunited with his father, Tarek searches a way out, and discovers a new hope emerging with the times. Eventually his free spirit and curious nature lead him to a group of people on a journey that will change their lives.
When I Saw You is the story of people affected by the times around them, in search of something more in their lives. A journey full of adventure, love, humor, and the desire to be free, but most of all this is a story about that moment in a person's life when he wakes up and finds the whole world is open and everything is possible - that moment you feel most alive. It is a journey of the human spirit that knows no borders.

Theatre
The Theatre programme contains activities that introduce particularly the young generation to theatre and drama, providing them with important tools for dealing with the hardships of daily life under occupation.
At the same time, The Freedom Theatre runs several professional training programmes with the aim of building up long-term capacity in the field of theatre, drama and applied theatre.
Our Mission
The Freedom Theatre is developing a vibrant and creative artistic community in the northern part of the West Bank. While emphasizing professionalism and innovation, the aim of the theatre is also to empower youth and women in the community and to explore the potential of arts as an important catalyst for social change.
Through its work, The Freedom Theatre aims to:
- Raise the quality of performing and visual arts in the area;
- Offer a space in which children and youth can act, create and express themselves freely and equally, imagine new realities and challenge existing social and cultural barriers;
- Empower the young generation to use the arts to promote positive change in their community;
- Break the cultural isolation that separates Jenin from the wider Palestinian and global communities.

A voice from Palestine in Europe: Istanbouli Theater starts its 2013 European Tour
August 3, 2013
A voice from Palestine in Europe: Istanbouli Theater starts its 2013 European Tour in Spain and Portugal”All human beings have the right to Human Rights, without exception.
Dehumanization, thinking about other people in terms of stereotypes or numbers, might let you think that human beings that are different from us are not subject to the same rights that we have. My theater wants to humanize” the others”, to incarnate them, therefore I have always been interested in showing my work in different countries.”
Kassem Istanbouli, a Lebanese artist with a Palestinian origin, has an extensive theatrical production focused on giving voice to the stories of survivors, almost always in a black comedy mode, bringing a smile to our faces while the tragedy lies underneath. As an actor and theater director Istanbouli has performed the following works, shown in different countries: Picnic in the flede, (Fernando Arrabal) on the absurdity of war; Hawamish on gender violence,
The People’s Court, on the rights of citizenship of Lebanese women; Experiencia del Mural, about identity (Mesopotamian poem XVII century), finalist at Almagro Off, the Black House, on the consequences of the lack of freedom; Walls, on identity and freedom, and Koum Yaba.
No doubt it is his play Koum Yaba, the one that has touched more the audience throughout the world, a monologue with interpretative rooted Arab tradition, in a black comedy mode and with a stage work that plays with the poetic. The dramatic text of Koum Yaba is inspired by the work of Palestinian writer Salman Natour and tells the story of the Palestinian people since 1948 until today. This work has been shown in Lebanon, in the Palestinian refugee camps, in Syria, Gaza, Spain, Algeria, Chile, Kuwait, Tunisia, Morocco.
